Since I am not directly responsible for assessing student (or teacher) performance in a classroom setting, I will use The Classroom In Bits, a  research paper prepared for EPE 763,  Advanced Field Studies in Education, as my primary performance indicator for this standard. This paper applies qualitative research methods to the evaluation of the two district high school distance learning initiatives: Fayette County Video-Linked Classroom, and the Kentucky Virtual High School. The paper alludes to student success, but is primarily an assessment of student satisfaction and comfort with the distance learning environment, with an eye towards high attrition rates. Qualitative methods were appropriate for this setting.

The primary focus of the research methodology was the analysis of interview transcripts. Students were able to speak freely and openly about their experiences, and were able to

A variety of methods were used, including ethnographic observations, interviews, and other data. The results of this research have been used directly within my department to inform the implementation of these programs.
